Our gardens have many chapters in their incredible history, and we're thrilled to be beginning our next chapter with the long-term goal of restoring them into an abundance of colour, scent and personality.

Follow our journey

The Abbey House Manor garden is a place guests have loved exploring for many years, so we're thrilled to have reopened our doors to be able to continue our story, having raised over £3000 for local charities already. With the help of our fantastic Head Gardener, Freya Langford, we're gradually restoring this space to better display the magnificent designs created by Barbara and Ian Pollard. Our current focuses are to improve and nurture our River Garden, Parterre Garden, and Kitchen Garden. In fact, we're already growing herbs, vegetables, fruit, and cut flowers for The Old Bell Hotel as a way to share our garden with the town.

Our gardening team

We’re thrilled to have engaged the award-winning Graduate Gardeners for the rejuvenation project. Head Gardener, Freya Langford formerly of BBC TV Gardeners’ World, leads the team of experienced Head and Assistant gardeners, Andy Spreadbury and Alan Tarling, supported by the talented Rachael Fear.
